<h2>Background:</h2>
<ul>
<li>Saurashtra region contributes 85% of oil seeds production of Gujarat State</li>
<li>Groundnut productivity is very low (1,200 kg ha<sup>-1</sup>), mainly due
to continuous monocropping since last 60 years leading to a severe decrease
in soil fertility</li>
<li>The contention that the soils of Saurashtra are high in available potassium
and groundnut in this region needs no K fertilization has done more harm than
good since last 30 years – groundnut responds to K applications</li>
</ul>
<h2>Objectives:</h2>
<ul>
<li> To study the field response of groundnut to potassium application</li>
<li>To assess the long-term soil fertility management through balanced fertilization
for sustainable yields of groundnut- based cropping systems</li>
<li>To screen the effect of balanced nutrients supply on the productivity and
sustainability of an intensive farming on a long term basis</li>
