Johnston, describes some well known, but often overlooked, facts relating
to potash; namely the soil-crop relationship, the dynamics of K in soils,
the different pools and their contribution to the K supply to crops. As important
is the nitrogen-potash relationship because, “adequate K reserves (in soils)
are essential to achieve the best possible response to N and thus reduce unit
costs of production.”
